This is a seven month assignment based workshop culminating in a group exhibition at the London Photo Show on the Southbank in 2025.
Completing a photography project is something to which many photographers aspire. This ongoing workshop will provide a supportive and confidence building structure to develop ideas for your own photography project and enable you to complete it.
You will develop your own reasons for shooting, hone a method creating images and formulate clarity on your topic so that the final exhibition is a coherent set of photos.
Finally, we will choose your final images together and guide your through the printing process so what you see on your screen matches the final prints.
The work of the group will be loosely defined around a theme (to be agreed by the group) so that the exhibition makes sense a whole.
Many photographers lack a wider audience for their work, so by exhibiting your final project at the London Photo Show, you are guaranteed to have your images seen by thousands of people.
Each month from April to October, you will take part in a Zoom call with the fellow members of the group. These sessions will build your confidence, provide direction, give ideas, answer questions and keep you on track as you progress through the project.
As the project progresses these sessions will evolve to focus on the stage of the project we are at, from generating ideas, technical help, feedback on your photos, and printing.
You will also have a monthly 1-1 call to support you further.
In June, you will take part in a one day workshop in London with the rest of the group.
Before this workshop you will be asked to think about your ideas for your project, these ideas will be tied loosely together so we have an overall theme for the group exhibition. You will receive some assignments and tasks to complete to help you develop your ideas and will have to produce a few images for discussion at the start of the workshop.
During the one day workshop you will work through a series of classroom sessions, practical assignments, tasks and feedback sessions to push your creativity, technical skills and project ideas further. You will work in different small groups to help and feedback with the project and to have the chance of working with each other.
Following the workshop you will work to produce your images for the exhibition. You will continue to take part in monthly group coaching calls on Zoom and you will have a 1-1 call each month.
During the final calls we will finalise your images for the exhibition and you will get given help with printing and well as discounts from our printing partners.
